In this episode the gals check out the island of Roatan off the coast of mainland Honduras while on a Princess Cruises Twitter press trip. Once off the boat, Kim negotiates a private van and driver without the tour to give some freedom to explore. Driving around the island on a rainy day, along with friends Gary Arndt from Everything-Everywhere and Brett Rounsaville from Amtrekker gives the group a taste of the island. Quite literally, when Gary spots rambutan fruit and teaches Courtney how to eat it…

Actually, the local electric company pledged to give them free electricity. And it wasn't us who chose a/c, it was the school. For the sake of posterity — because perhaps you didn't notice *in the video* — we also gave them books.

I'm not sure what made you more angry, that we chose to go on a first-ever cruise, or that we didn't clear it with you first. I've been all over the world from a young age, and don't question that perhaps you have as well. But rather than publish your misplaced vitriol, I have removed some of the defamatory and misogynistic words you chose to write with all your — um — education and worldly open-mindedness.

Kudos on the AC; I have taught on Roatan without air conditioning, and it can be miserable.
I just spent three weeks on Roatan where I wrote the epilogue to my book, Midlife Monkeylala: Escape to and from a Tropical Paradise, which is about the three years I lived on the island almost 20 years ago.

I have been to Roatan but though the beach was nice but the place had no soul. Full of people from cruise ships and loads of americans who have been there for 5 years and never been to the main land! Utila has a better vibe but go to the mainland and see Copa Ruinas and just over the water to La Ceiba which has so many activities like some of the best whote water rafting in the world!

I went to Roatan around 9 months ago after travelling mainland Honduras. If you are wanting somewhere authentic Central America you are not going to find it here. Cruise ships dock almost daily making the main beach so busy during the day I could be in Spain with bluer water.
