Why do they call it an earthship when it doesn't go anywhere? Maybe it should be called a earth house. But i guess that doesn't have the same ring to it.

I lived near Taos for a year in ’71,soon after it’d been flooded w/hippies. I lived in arroyo seco mostly while my friend hung out w/dennis hopper, who gave the hippies free long distance calls via some kind of code. My friend was a musician who was going to play music for hopper’s next movie, so I wasnt allowed at hopper’s spread. my friend & I used to watch his house thru binnoculars in taos. After freezing to death at 9000 feet that winter & coming down w/arthritis i went to my mom’s house in the cal. desert after dr.’s orders to leave the area. MANy years later,while a volunteer for the santa barbara film festival, i got to meet Hopper & asked him about our mutual friend, chris sikelianos. He asked me if he ever did anything w/his music! Apparently the movie soundtrack deal had fallen thru. I was living next to indian land & could hear them singing…& more stories…
